GFZA CEO Visits Three New Free Zones Companies at Afienya

On February 25, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, led a management team on a working visit to three Free Zones Enterprises located within the Bright Industrial Park in Afienya. The visit formed part of the CEO’s ongoing engagement with licensed enterprises to strengthen collaboration, assess operational performance, and address any challenges they may be facing.

The team first visited Zema New Energy Ghana Limited, the first high-efficiency photovoltaic cell factory in Ghana. The company specializes in the production of high-efficiency monocrystalline TOPCon solar cells, contributing significantly to renewable energy advancement and industrial growth. The company has been in operation for about a year and currently employs over 300 people. Management of the company indicated that operations would run on a 24-hour schedule once the facility reaches full production capacity.

The team also engaged the management of Jiudine Ghana Corporation Ltd., a garment manufacturing company producing a wide range of ready-made garments for the US and European markets. Discussions focused on production capacity, export performance, workforce development, and the company’s contribution to job creation within the enclave. The company has been in operation for one year, currently employs about 450 people, and exports 100% of its production.

Additionally, the delegation toured Qian Feng International Corporation Ltd., a leading cap manufacturing company known for producing caps for the fashion, sports, and corporate branding markets. Management highlighted their manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and expansion plans aimed at increasing exports and strengthening competitiveness in global markets. The company has been in operation for two years and currently employs over 900 people. It intends to increase its workforce to 3,500 employees by 2028. It also exports 100% of its products.

The CEO expressed satisfaction with the operations of the companies and commended their contribution to industrial growth and employment creation. She encouraged management to expand their operations to increase employment levels, while reaffirming the Authority’s support to ensure their success. She also admonished management of the companies to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the Authority.

The working visit provided the opportunity for the CEO and her team to better understand the operational challenges confronting the companies and to discuss practical solutions in line with the regulatory mandate of the Authority.

The CEO was accompanied by the Director for Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor; Director for Administration, Hajia Hanatu Abubakar; Director for Monitoring, Mrs. Joyce Amapps; Head of Compliance, Mr. Michael Larbi; Head of Estate & Zones, Mr. Benjamin Obeng; and other officers of the Authority.
