Chief Executive Officer’s visit to the Western Region (FZEs)

On April 10, 2025, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) Dr. Mary Awusi, embarked on her first, working visit to the Western Region. She was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (operations), Mr. Apau Wiredu Lateef and other Officials of the Authority. The purpose of the visit was to enable the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer obtain first-hand information about operations of licensed Free Zone Enterprises in the Western Region, ascertain challenges being encountered and help proffer sustainable solutions. She also sought to prospect for new investments into the Free Zones.

The Team visited the following companies:

· Yaeric Company Limited (Yaeric), a multi- million dollar, wholly, Ghanaian-owned FZE located in Abura, Axim

· Marco Polo Tile Group Ghana Limited, manufacturers and exporters of sanitary ware, located in Nyankrom, Shama.

· Plot Enterprises Company Limited (Plot), a Ghanaian-Ivorian owned cocoa processing company located at Anoe in Sekondi.

· Jintao Sanitary Ware Ghana Limited located in Eshiem in Sekondi

. Chemsolv, producers of chemical products and services for export across Africa and beyond.

Both Yaeric and Marco Polo bemoaned the non-availability of rubber and clay respectively as a major setback for continuous production.

Dr. Awusi assured the companies that her vision was aligned with that of the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to transform Ghana through job creation where the economy in general and value chains particularly would operate a 24-hour system to boost productivity for local consumption, import substitution and value addition for exports.

The companies were assured of solutions that would ensure business sustainability since the positive rippling effects of job creation, business expansion, value addition for exports was akin to the vision and direction of the President.
