GFZA Participates in Opening of 77th Annual New Year School.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, participated in the opening ceremony of the 77th Annual New Year School and Conference, organized by the University of Ghana on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Great Hall.

The event brought together policymakers, academics and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the theme, “Building the Ghana We Want Together for Sustainable Development.”

The New Year School serves as a platform for informed dialogue on national development issues, promoting evidence-based policy discussions and practical solutions aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, who was the Special Guest of Honour, outlined key pillars critical to Ghana’s development.

These include a diversified and productive economy, human capital development, good governance, environmental and climate resilience, and strong partnerships. He urged citizens and institutions to work together with purpose and courage to advance national development.

Speakers at the event commended the organizers for sustaining a forum for national reflection and dialogue and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and collective action in achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Awusi was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Administration and Finance, Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah; the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu; and the Director of Corporate Affairs, Public Relations, and Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor.
