The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) joined stakeholders at the launch of the Ghana Agriculture Fund for Education and Transformation (GAFET) by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at the Palms by Eagles Hotel in Accra. The Fund is aimed at mobilising sustainable resources to support agricultural education, skills development and research needed to transform Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, emphasised the need to strengthen agricultural education and practical skills to develop a competent workforce capable of driving Ghana’s agricultural transformation.
The Authority made a significant financial contribution towards the Fund, which currently has GH¢3.5 million in commitments, with an initial endowment target of GH¢100 million by December 2028.
The GFZA delegation comprised the Director of Business Development and Research, Mr. Lawrence Osei-Boateng; Director of Agribusiness, Dr. Abdul-Wahab Alhassan; and Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, PR & AfterCare, Mr. Bilal Muazu.
The Authority’s participation and contribution reaffirm its commitment to promoting agribusiness, value addition, industrialisation and export-oriented production as key drivers of Ghana’s economic transformation.
