The Ghana Free Zones Authority on 13th August 2024, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a ten-member Joint GFZA/Immigration Standing Committee, in a ceremony chaired by the Chief Executive officer, Amb. Micheal A. N. N. Y. Oquaye Jnr.
In his opening remarks the CEO welcomed members and said the constitution of the Committee is to further strengthen the working relationship with the Ghana Immigration Service. This also demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to supporting its duly licensed Free Zone Enterprises (FZEs) to have a hassle-free processing of all its immigration applications.
The ten-member committee drawn from the two institutions was sworn-in. The members consist of the following:
- Madam Kate D. Abbeo -Deputy CEO (F & A) – Chairperson
- Mr. Laud O. Affrifah-Deputy Comptroller General (OPS) – Co-Chairperson
- Madam Prudence Aku SosuahDeputy Commissioner of Immigration – Member
- Madam Nicholina Asare-Deputy Commissioner of Immigration – Member
- Mr. Alhassan Ziblim-Director of Administration – Member
- Mr. Daniel Langbir-Assistant Commissioner of Immigration – Member
- Madam Vera Arizie-Assistant Commissioner of Immigration – Member/Sec
- Madam Stella Baah Aidoo-Snr. Manager, Finance – Member
- Madam Ivy Odai -Asst. Manager, Agency Relations – Member/Secretary
- Mr. Isaac Gyan-Asst. Head, MIS – Member
Madam Kate D. Abbeo, Deputy CEO (F & A), in her response thanked the CEO for the opportunity given and said the Committee would ensure to inject more efficiency in its work and enhance the compliance of the Immigration Laws by the FZEs.
To further reiterate, Mr. Laud O. Affrifah the Deputy Comptroller General (OPS & Command Post), assured the Authority of the Ghana Immigration Service’s continued support and guidance in the processes and processing of the FZEs applications.
In conclusion the CEO thanked members of the Committee for availing themselves to serve and charged them to deliver with diligence on the processing of applications and to ensure the compliance of the law by the FZEs expatriate employees and dependents.
