


On March 4, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, led a management team on a strategic working visit to three Free Zones Enterprises (FZEs) as part of the Authority’s ongoing engagement with companies under the Free Zones Scheme to strengthen collaboration, assess operational progress and address emerging challenges.



The first stop was eSAL Services Africa Limited, one of Ghana’s leading business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology solutions providers. The company offers customer service management, contact center outsourcing and digital services to clients across sectors including telecommunications and financial services. Operating a 24-hour service with three shifts and a workforce of over 300 employees, the company highlighted its plans to expand operations and roll out more training programmes targeting women and persons with disabilities, particularly in soft skills development. Dr. Awusi commended the company’s management for its growth and for creating employment opportunities for the Ghanaian youth.
The team also visited Fortress Asset Integrity Solution Limited, a company specializing in robot manufacturing, engineering services, digital solutions and asset integrity systems for the oil and gas sector. During the visit, Fortress showcased its ATR-MP robot and demonstrated how the robot can be remotely directed to perform cleaning, inspection and repair tasks in oil tanks using intelligent system integration. With a current staff strength of thirty-three (33), the company shared plans to expand its production and service delivery.



The final stop was Buwelo Ghana, a BPO company providing high-quality customer care outsourcing and digital support services to international clients. With a workforce of 900 employees, Buwelo prioritizes employee well-being and has cultivated a human-centered work environment. The company has also undertaken notable corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the construction of boreholes and a school, hygiene education programmes and plans to build two computer laboratories for a school in Teshie.
The GFZA team commended Buwelo for its outstanding operations and recognized it as one of the top BPO companies under the Free Zones Scheme, particularly for its competitive employee remuneration and compliance with the Scheme’s regulations.
Dr. Awusi reiterated the Authority’s commitment to creating a supportive and enabling environment for Free Zones Enterprises, emphasizing the Authority’s dedication to addressing operational challenges and promoting investment expansion in Ghana.



The CEO was accompanied by the Director for Corporate Affairs, PR and Aftercare, Dr. Patience Acorlor; Director for Administration, Hajia Hanatu Abubakar; Director for Monitoring, Mrs. Joyce Amapps; Head of Compliance, Mr. Michael Larbi; and other officers of the Authority.
