GFZA Champions Industrial and Logistics Development Through Strategic Chinese Partnerships

On Friday, 27th June 2025, the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) participated in the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, under the theme “Enhancing Security and Infrastructure for Investment: Opportunities for Ghana-China Collaboration.” The Authority was represented by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, who was accompanied by Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, Director for Marketing and Investment Promotion.

In his remarks, Mr. Wiredu extended a special invitation to Chinese investors to consider Ghana as a preferred destination for value-added investments that meet the Free Zones Scheme’s 70% minimum export requirement. He emphasized Ghana’s strategic positioning within the AfCFTA framework and highlighted the generous incentives available to Free Zones Enterprises, including tax exemptions and repatriation of dividends.

Following the presentation, he responded to questions from members of the Chinese business community, providing clarity on the Free Zones concept, procedures, and operational advantages.

The summit also featured an address by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, who spoke on behalf of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an export-driven economy through the 24-hour economy initiative and emphasized Ghana’s vision to become Africa’s next industrial and logistics hub, with Chinese partnerships playing a central role in this ambition.

The summit concluded with renewed momentum for Ghana-China cooperation, and GFZA’s participation underscored the Authority’s ongoing role in attracting export-oriented investments.
