Ghana Trade Delegation Meets with Premier of KwaZulu-Natal

Amb. Michael Oquaye is currently attending the Intra-African Trade Fair in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The theme for this year’s Intra-African Trade Fair is “Building Bridges for a successful AfCFTA”.

On the sidelines of the Event, H.E Oquaye attended a high profile meeting with the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Hon. Sihle Zikalala

KwaZulu-Natal is a developing province which is the second largest province after Johannesburg province with a population of about 11 million.

During the engagement, the CEO of the Ghana FreeZones Authority, Amb. Mike Oquaye jnr., elaborated on the development of the Special Economic Zones and brought to bear the fact that the Takoradi port is being developed to become the deepest port in the ECOWAS sub region. He expressed the similarities between Takoradi and the Western Region of Ghana and the KwaZulu-Natal Province. These facts were useful especially after the Premier stated that in the last quarter of next year, KwaZulu-Natal will host an SEZ event and would appreciate Ghana’s facilitation.

Various essential points relating to Trade and investment as well as ways to boost Trade between the Province and Ghana, were highlighted.

The IATF which is described as Africa’s premier continental trade and investment event, serves as a source of strategic discussion and thought leadership. It provides and unlocks new Intra- African trade opportunities with thousands of exhibitors, visitors , buyers and conference delegates from across Africa and beyond.
This year’s conference has over 1,100 exhibitors showcasing their work from different sectors, drawn from 55 African countries. It aims to attract new investments, aid in the formation, building, forging of agreements as well as trade relationships and promotion of International coorporations.
