GFZA PARTICIPATES IN AFRICA TRADE SUMMIT 2026

Accra, January , 2026

The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) participated in the Africa Trade Summit 2026, a two-day event held from 28th to 29th January 2026, at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra. The Summit brought together government officials, private sector leaders and development partners to explore strategies for strengthening trade, investment and value addition across the continent.

The Summit was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and was themed “Financing Africa’s Industrialization: Developing Industrial Value Chains, Beneficiation, and Market Integration.” In his address, President Mahama emphasized that Africa’s long-term prosperity depends on developing industrial value chains that connect countries and sectors across the continent.

He highlighted that no single nation can industrialize alone and called for stronger collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The President further urged African leaders to invest in infrastructure, logistics and digital systems to enhance production, reduce trade barriers, and make intra-African trade more competitive.

On the second day of the Summit, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Finance and Administration at the GFZA, Mr. Musah Sibiri Hamidu, participated in a high-level panel discussion on Agro-processing, Food Systems, and Agro-Industrial Value Chains. He shared insights on how Special Economic Zones and the Free Zones policy promote industrial growth, job creation, and export diversification. He noted that Ghana’s Free Zones Scheme provides fiscal incentives, market access, and an enabling environment that supports value addition in agro-based industries.

The GFZA delegation also included the Director of Human Resources, Madam Oye Asante; the Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs, Mr. Bilal Muazu; and other officers of the Authority.
