On 27th January 2026, the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) hosted a high-level business delegation from Meihua Group, China, a global biotechnology and fermentation-based manufacturing conglomerate. The delegation, led by the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jun He and senior executives, visited Ghana to explore investment opportunities under the Free Zones Scheme.
Meihua Group’s core products include amino acids and food ingredients; starch and starch-based sweeteners; animal nutrition and feed additives; bio-based chemicals and fermentation products; as well as agro-processing and bio-manufacturing.
The delegation sought to assess Ghana’s suitability for large-scale, export-oriented production facilities, with particular focus on industrial land availability, utilities (power, water, natural gas), logistics, port access and regulatory frameworks to support integrated bio-industrial and agro-processing operations.



Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Finance and Administration, Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah, expressed appreciation for the delegation’s interest in Ghana and the Free Zones Programme. He reaffirmed GFZA’s commitment to promoting and supporting investments that contribute to national development.
The Director of Corporate Affairs, Public Relations, and Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, made a presentation on the Authority’s mandate and investment incentives. She also highlighted key opportunities available within the Free Zones enclaves, particularly at the Afienya Export Processing Zone (EPZ).
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, assured the delegation of the GFZA’s full support in facilitating their investment plans. He further encouraged the delegation to select Ghana for their investment based on the conducive business environment of the country.



The meeting was attended by the senior management team, reflecting the GFZA’s strong commitment to building lasting investment partnerships and promoting economic growth in Ghana.
On 28th January 2026, the GFZA organized a stakeholder meeting at the Tema Office to enable relevant institutions to brief the Meihua Group delegation. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI); Ghana Standards Authority (GSA); Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division); Energy Commission; and Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). Also in attendance was the Director of the Tema Office, Mr. Lawrence Osei-Boateng.


The delegation also visited the Dawa Industrial Park, Bright Industrial Park, Afienya Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
