CEO OF GFZA PARTICIPATES IN TÜRKIYE –AFRICA BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC FORUM (TABEF)

Türkiye, 17th October 2025

The Türkiye–Africa Business and Economic Forum (TABEF) was held from 16th to 17th October 2025, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Trade and Economy. The Forum aimed to strengthen trade relations between Türkiye and Africa and promote investment partnerships across the continent.

The two-day event, held under the theme “Leveraging Türkiye–Africa Relations for Mutual Gains,” focused on key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, logistics, mining, textiles, defense, and digital technologies. It brought together over 4,000 business leaders, investors, policymakers, and captains of industry from across Africa and Türkiye.

The growing size and potential of the African market—particularly following the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)—remain central to Türkiye’s drive to deepen its economic engagement with the continent. Türkiye’s strategic objective is to expand its reach across Sub-Saharan Africa and diversify trade beyond the limited number of countries it currently engages with.

Against this backdrop, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mary Awusi, participated in the Forum and attended several key sessions, including:

• Financing Infrastructure Needs of Africa: Türkiye’s Build-Operate-Transfer Experience as a Model for Africa’s Infrastructure Development

• Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies

• Türkiye–Africa Women Leadership and Entrepreneurship Dialogue

Dr. Awusi also joined the Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Sampson Ahi, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Türkiye, H.E. Abdul Nasiru-Deen, for a series of Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings held on the margins of the Forum. These engagements provided a valuable platform for direct dialogue between the Ghanaian delegation and key Turkish stakeholders, aimed at fostering mutually beneficial trade and investment partnerships.
