

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, on Tuesday, 15th April 2025, hosted a delegation from the Department for Business and Trade at the British High Commission, at the Authority’s Head Office in Accra. The purpose of the courtesy visit was to formally introduce the senior officials of the Department and engage in strategic discussions aimed at identifying potential areas for collaboration to further strengthen UK-Ghana trade and investment relations.
The delegation was led by Ms. Giselle Agyare, Country Director for the Department for Business and Trade, who congratulated Dr. Awusi on her recent appointment. She reiterated the Department’s commitment to promoting the expansion of UK businesses abroad and highlighted key sectors for potential cooperation in trade and investment.
In her remarks, Dr. Awusi outlined her strategic vision for the Authority, aligning it with President John Dramani Mahama’s broader national agenda for industrialization and the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Policy. She reaffirmed her commitment to attracting increased investments into the Free Zones and emphasized the Authority’s priority sectors. Dr. Awusi also expressed the Authority’s openness to future engagements.


As a key outcome of the meeting, both parties agreed to collaborate on organizing a capacity-building workshop for Free Zone Enterprises, focusing on opportunities under the Ghana-UK Trade Partnership Agreement.
The GFZA team present at the meeting included Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, Director for Marketing and Investment Promotion; Mr. Alhassan B. Ziblim, Director for Administration; and other senior officials of the Authority.
