GFZA participates in the grand opening and official commissioning of Tetracore Gas Ghana Ltd.

The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) participated in the grand opening and official commissioning of Ghana’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility by Tetracore Gas Ghana Ltd, a Free Zone Enterprise, marking a major milestone in Ghana’s energy sector and its transition towards green energy. The GFZA delegation was led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration, Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah.

The project is a state-of-the-art, scalable 5.1 MMSCFD CNG Mother Station, supported by a 10 MMSCFD Pressure Regulation and Metering Station and a dedicated 2.5 km pipeline network, delivering a cleaner, more reliable, and cost-effective fuel alternative for the nation’s industrial, commercial, and transportation sectors.

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, commended Tetracore Gas Ghana Ltd for taking a bold step amid the profound challenges confronting the energy sector, particularly in relation to accessibility, affordability, and sustainable energy delivery. He added that natural gas remains a pragmatic and reliable alternative for ensuring the energy supply needed to drive industrial growth.

Delivering the goodwill message on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of the GFZA, Dr. Mary Awusi, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Finance & Administration extended warm congratulations to Tetracore Gas Ghana Ltd for its resilience, professionalism, and strategic energy transition initiative. He noted that granting Free Zone status to the project was a deliberate policy decision aligned with Ghana’s commitment to cleaner energy, climate resilience, and sustainable industrial growth. He further assured that, as a regulator, the GFZA remains committed to supporting the company across the value chain to help achieve its broader objectives.

In his address, the Chief Executive Officer of Tetracore Energy Group, Mr. Olakunle Williams, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders. He stated that the project is expected to create between 500 and 600 direct and indirect jobs over the coming years and is projected to scale up within the next nine months from 5.1 MMSCFD to 10 MMSCFD. He also conveyed his confidence in Ghana as a trusted partner for future collaborations.

Accompanying the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Finance & Administration was the Director for Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, along with other officials of the Authority.
