GFZA Receives U.S. Virgin Islands Governor and Delegation.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, received a high-level delegation from the U.S. Virgin Islands, led by Governor Albert Bryan Jr., at the Authority’s Head Office in Accra.

Governor Bryan stated that their visit to Ghana aims to explore strategic collaborations in cocoa, gold, technology, and culture areas with strong potential to generate practical and mutually beneficial outcomes for both sides. He highlighted the zero-tariff regime offered by the U.S. Virgin Islands and encouraged Ghanaian businesses, particularly those operating within the free zones, to leverage this opportunity to expand access to the U.S. market. He also noted his distinction as both the first U.S. Virgin Islands Governor and the first U.S. Governor to undertake an official visit to Ghana.

The Deputy CEO (Operations) provided the delegation with an overview of the Ghana Free Zones Programme, emphasizing the incentives available to investors and the strong potential for partnership between the free trade zones of both countries. Both parties agreed to explore the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize future cooperation.

Governor Bryan was accompanied by senior officials from the Virgin Islands Government Office, Department of Tourism, Economic Development Authority and Next Generation Network (NGN).

Officials of the GFZA present at the meeting included the Director of Corporate Affairs & PR, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor; Head of Compliance, Mr. Michael Larbi; and Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Bilal Muazu Sulemana.
