Accra, August 2026.
The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, hosted a 26-member delegation from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) at its Head Office in Accra, as part of a pre-Summit programme for the 3rd China–West Africa Medical and Health Industry, AI and Diagnosis Cooperation Summit and Expo.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted Ghana’s potential as a strategic investment destination. She emphasised the country’s access to the wider African market and the opportunities available to investors under the Free Zones Scheme.
The leader of the delegation, Mr. Junchen Liu, expressed appreciation to the Authority for the warm reception and the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Ghana’s Free Zones Scheme and the investment opportunities available to Chinese businesses.
As part of the engagement, the Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion, Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, delivered a presentation on the Free Zones Programme, highlighting the investment incentives, licensing categories, priority sectors and Ghana’s access to the African market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement. Emphasis was placed on the pharmaceutical sector and its potential for investment, local production and value addition.
The engagement forms part of the Authority’s efforts to promote Ghana as a preferred investment destination and strengthen Ghana–China trade and investment relations, particularly in emerging areas such as pharmaceuticals and healthcare
Present at the meeting were the Deputy CEO for Finance and Administration, Mr. Hamidu Sibiri Musah; Deputy CEO for Operations, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, as well as Directors and Senior Managers of the Authority.
