Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Zita Sabah Benson, paid an official visit to the head office of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA). The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the GFZA and the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom in promoting investment opportunities in Ghana.

The Chief Executive Officer of the GFZA, Dr. Mary Awusi, warmly received and congratulated the High Commissioner- designate on her appointment as the first female to hold the position. She expressed confidence that H.E. Benson’s leadership would deepen Ghana–UK relations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

As part of the engagement, the Director for Marketing and Investment Promotion, Madam Anita Quashie, delivered a presentation on the Free Zones Scheme. The presentation outlined the functions of the Scheme and identified potential areas of collaboration, including providing timely information on international trade fairs and exhibitions, sharing updates on global trade policies, supporting enterprises to meet international standards, and exploring targeted marketing strategies to attract UK-based investors to Ghana.

In her remarks, the High Commissioner expressed appreciation to the CEO and management for the briefing. She encouraged the Authority to maintain close contact with her office, particularly during investment promotion missions abroad, emphasizing that such collaboration would strengthen the partnership between Ghana and the UK while enhancing investor confidence.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to boost trade, attract investment, and position Ghana as a competitive destination for business.
