Madam Adjoba Kyiamah, Executive Director of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) led a team from her outfit on Thursday 20th March 2025 to pay a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, at the Authority’s Head Office.
Madam Adjoba Kyiamah gave an overview of the mandate and activities of the UKGCC. She indicated that the UKGCC was established in 2016 with the support of the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) to enhance bilateral trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Ghana. By fostering closer commercial ties between the two countries, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in strengthening economic cooperation and promoting mutually beneficial trade opportunities through Investment Promotion, Business Advocacy, and Capacity Building.
Dr. Mary Awusi in her remarks, thanked the UKGCC for their continual support of the Authority and indicated plans for future collaboration to attract investors into Ghana.
Both parties agreed to plan capacity building sessions for Free Zone Enterprises (FZEs) on Trade Partnership Agreements (TPA), Environment Social and Governance (ESG) and UK Standardisation procedures for cross border trade.
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Adjoba Kyiamah lauded the Ghana Free Zones Authority for being a strategic partner and lead in championing a path that has continued to galvanise the UK business community towards Ghana. She was supported by Madam Sara-Adelaide, Head of Trade Services and Madam Worlase Afatsiawo, Head of External Relations.
Other members of the GFZA team were Mr. Musah Sibri Amidu, Deputy C.E.O. (Finance and Administration); Ms. Anita Quashie, Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion; and Mrs. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations.
